10 Jul The year 2024 in the Philanthropic Consortium is dedicated to mental health!
Omenaa Mensah and Sylwia Dobrzycka have decided to dedicate the year 2024 in the Philanthropic Consortium to mental health, including the topic of transgender issues, because the statistics are alarming!
More than 40% of transgender adults in the USA have attempted suicide. 81% have thought about suicide, and 42% have made an attempt. In Poland, reports indicate a high level of discrimination and violence against transgender people, which negatively impacts their mental health. The availability of data is limited, and the scale of the problem is large. Further research and support for the transgender community are needed. A great inspiration for Omenaa Mensah’s actions in the field of mental health was the book by journalist and her colleague, Piotr Jacoń, “Wiktoria. Being Transgender is Not Everything.” We highly recommend this publication!
