Goodness in a Backpack. Auchan, Omenaa Foundation and Donateo Foundation launch joint action for children from Children's Homes

From August 21 to September 30, 2025, in all Auchan stores in Poland, a unique aid campaign will be launched, through which every customer can support children and young people from Children's Homes supported by the Omenaa Foundation. How can we help?  One click on the card payment is enough to donate 2 PLN for school kits and other needs of the foundation's charges. Donateo Foundation is a partner of the campaign.

More and more children in Poland are growing up outside their biological families - in foster families, children's homes and foster care centers. According to data from the Central Statistical Office for 2024, the number of children in foster care has already exceeded 77,000 and continues to gradually increase. This shows how important a role in the child welfare system is played by both foster families and institutions, which support the development and sense of security of the youngest every day.

The Omenaa Foundation and Auchan's campaign was designed to allow customers to quickly and conveniently get involved in helping - without additional paperwork. When paying for purchases (card transaction), a question will appear on the terminal screen: "Do you want to make a donation?". Just select "YES" and the system will charge an additional PLN 2 - as a separate payment, independent of the shopping amount. Confirmation of the micro-donation will be on the non-fiscal receipt. It's a small gesture that, on the scale of thousands of donors, can make a real difference in the lives of children in foster care centers across the country.

Auchan supports children and develops a culture of everyday helping

For Auchan is another social initiative in cooperation with the Donateo Foundation, which is part of a broader strategy to support local communities and build responsible business. Cooperation with the Omenaa Foundation allows us to reach out with help where the needs are greatest and most urgent - to children who often have no support in their loved ones and have to enter new stages of life deprived of emotional and material support.

-  We are happy to combine our business with helping those who need support by implementing projects that bring real change. Our stores are visited by thousands of customers every day. Now each of them can - literally with one click - become a part of this change," emphasizes Magdalena Bobko - Auchan's CSR Director.

The great power of small gestures

Data from the Donateo Foundation shows that many Poles are familiar with the idea of micro-donations, and almost half use this form of helping. Actions of this type are gaining popularity because they are quick, understandable and accessible to everyone - regardless of their wallet.

This initiative is not about large sums of money, but about simplicity and scale. Even 2 zlotys, if donated by thousands of people every day, can create a huge support fund - for those who can't fight for it themselves.

Supporting the wards of the Omenaa Foundation is perfectly in line with our most important goals. - says Anna Płatek, Board Member of the Donateo Foundation. - We try to be wherever support is needed for the most vulnerable people, which include children and young people from orphanages. Their fate in adulthood often depends on a helping hand that comes during the crucial period of life that is childhood and adolescence. Let's together make the return to school a pleasant and comfortable experience for such children as well - adds Anna Płatek.

Children need more than just a roof over their heads

Children growing up in orphanages often face insecurity, loneliness, and limited access to education, development and positive role models. A school layette is more than notebooks and pens - it is a symbol of equality, dignity and a new beginning.

That's why the Omenaa Foundation has been involved for years in systemic support of educational institutions in Poland. The Foundation not only finances layettes and educational classes, but also supports the emotional, psychological and professional development of children who had to become independent too early.

Remember that you can help. All it takes is one click!
